The
Family Court system is on trial this week, both in Angelo Lobo's documentary
film, Support
System Down and in Alec Baldwin's book, A
Promise to Ourselves. Both look at ways in which people have
been trapped in divorce proceeding that can last for years, cost into
the MILLIONS of dollars, and separate parents from kids. We also speak
with Susan E. Block, who is a family law attorney and the former Administrative
Judge of the Family Court of St. Louis County. We follow up on Amy Goodman's
arrest, and talk with Justin Krebs from Drinking
Liberally.
Alec
Baldwin took a lot of heat after an angry voicemail to his daughter
was leaked back in 2007. In his recently released book about Parental
Alienation, A Promise to Ourselves, he confides that he was
suicidal after the incident. Angelo Lobo's documentary film, Support
System Down, focuses on the issues facing non-custodial parents
within the issues within Family Court System, such as excessive child
support payments and unenforced visitation, that lead to depression,
debt, imprisonment, and even suicide. Susan Block looks at these problems
but also discusses new solutions that are being implemented in Missouri.
On
a lighter note, we chat with co-founder Justin Krebs and others from
the Drinking
Liberally debate party at the first presidential debate.

While noted liberal Alec Baldwin has had career success, his divorce difficulties
have been the inspiration for his book about Parental Alienation.
Angelo Lobo promotes his film, Support
System Down. Since creating the film and his web site, he has
had to intervene on 3 suicide attempts.
Attorney Susan
Block has seen the Family Court System from both sides of the bench.
